Four ways to take bookings
| Setup | How it works | Good for | Breaks when |
|---|---|---|---|
| WhatsApp and a paper or Google diary | Customer messages, staff confirm | New venues, one-person salons | Night messages, several staff, double bookings |
| Booking link on Google and Instagram | A free or low-cost tool's booking page | Small salons, clinics, studios | You need table plans, deposits or POS links |
| Restaurant booking platform | Table management, guest profiles, reminders, Google button | Restaurants with real demand peaks | Rarely; cost is the limit |
| Booking built into your own site | Widget or custom flow tied to your systems | Clinics, multi-branch, custom services | Built badly or never updated |
Most venues move from row one to row two or three when the owner notices bookings arriving after midnight and staff arguing over who confirmed what.

What Dubai venues actually use
In our October 2026 crawl of Dubai venue websites, 154 of 409 analysable sites (37.7%) had an online booking tool on the homepage. Of those, 100 used SevenRooms, 37 Eat App, 18 OpenTable and 21 their own form; some used two. Another 76 sites (18.6%) said "book" but offered neither a booking tool nor WhatsApp, leaving the guest to call.
What the platforms charge
Prices change and differ by region. As examples published in October 2026:
| Platform | Published price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Eat App (restaurants) | Free up to 100 guests a month; Lite USD 69, Core USD 159, Pro USD 299 a month billed yearly (pricing) | Add-ons such as payments or POS integration from USD 39 a month |
| Fresha (salons, spas, clinics) | Per bookable team member a month, plus card processing and a one-time fee for new clients from its marketplace (pricing page) | The page shows prices in the visitor's currency; check the UAE figure in your own account |
| Google booking button | Free from Google; the provider may charge you | Only through providers integrated with Google |
The real cost is rarely the subscription. It's the setup hours, staff training and the bookings you lose while the old and new system run side by side.

The Google button
Google shows a booking button on your profile when you connect a supported provider from the Bookings section of your Business Profile. Google says the provider shows up within a week, and Reserve with Google is available only in certain countries with supported providers. If your tool isn't integrated, add its booking link to the profile instead; it's less prominent but still one tap from Maps.
No-shows: the arithmetic
Resos analysed 3.77 million reservations at 2,417 restaurants and found an average no-show rate of 2.33%. Where SMS reminders were sent, the recorded rate was 16% lower. Both figures are observational. Dubai-specific data doesn't exist publicly; what's on record is that Dubai restaurants have charged AED 100–300+ per person for no-shows.
A worked example, with illustrative numbers. A venue takes 600 brunch reservations a month at AED 350 per guest, 2 guests per booking:
| Scenario | No-show rate | No-show bookings | Revenue lost per month |
|---|---|---|---|
| Average (Resos) | 2.33% | 14 | 14 × 2 × 350 = AED 9,800 |
| With reminders (16% lower) | 1.96% | 12 | 12 × 2 × 350 = AED 8,400 |
| A bad month at 10% | 10% | 60 | 60 × 2 × 350 = AED 42,000 |
Reminders alone save about AED 1,400 a month here, more than most platform subscriptions. Many empty tables can be resold on a busy Friday, so the true loss is lower; on a slow Tuesday it's close to the full amount.

Reminders on WhatsApp
Customers in the UAE answer WhatsApp faster than SMS or email. A reminder about their own booking is a service message. Inside 24 hours of the customer's last message you can send it free-form; outside that window it goes as a utility template on the WhatsApp Business Platform, a category Meta reserves for messages triggered by something the customer did. Keep it strictly to the booking: date, time, address, a button to confirm or reschedule. Adding "and try our new dessert menu" can push it into marketing.
A useful pattern: confirmation right after booking, a reminder 24 hours before with a confirm button, and for unconfirmed bookings a call or message from staff a few hours before.
Clinics: extra questions
- Calendars per doctor and room, with different durations per service.
- Forms before the visit, so reception doesn't retype history.
- Where patient data is stored and who can see it. Health data is sensitive; read the tool's data terms before you sign, and see our PDPL guide for websites for the consent basics.
- Advertising the booking page: clinic promotions in Dubai follow DHA rules; see medical advertising rules.
What nobody tells you
Two diaries means double bookings. If bookings come through the platform, WhatsApp and the phone, they must all land in one calendar. Decide which system is the truth and make staff enter phone bookings there.
Marketplace bookings may not be your customers. Platforms that send you new clients from their marketplace often charge for them and keep the relationship. Push repeat customers to book through your own link.
Vladimir Chernyshev, GM: set up reminders before you buy anything else. They're the cheapest no-show fix there is, and most booking tools already include them. Then put the booking link on Google, Instagram and WhatsApp, so the customer never has to message to ask "do you have a table?"
