The gap in Dubai
When we crawled the websites Dubai restaurants, cafés, bars and lounges list on Google Maps for our 2026 study, 139 of 409 analysable sites (34.0%) had a WhatsApp click-to-chat button. 226 (55.3%) linked to Instagram but offered no WhatsApp, and 76 (18.6%) invited guests to "book" with neither a booking tool nor WhatsApp. We measured venues only, but the lesson carries over: a site that sends people to Instagram sends them away to scroll instead of to talk.
A landing page for ads exists to do one thing: start a conversation with the person who clicked.

Anatomy of the first screen
On a phone, the first screen is everything most visitors see. It must answer three questions and offer one action.
| Element | What it says | Example for a clinic in JLT |
|---|---|---|
| Headline | The offer in the words of the ad | "Laser hair removal, full legs, from AED X" |
| Proof | One line people trust | "4.8 on Google, 600+ reviews" |
| Where | Area and a landmark | "Cluster T, JLT, 2 minutes from DMCC metro" |
| Main button | One action, WhatsApp | "Ask on WhatsApp" |
| Second option | For people who won't chat | "Call" link, or a short form below |
Keep the price or price range on the first screen. A visitor who has to message to find out the price often doesn't message at all. Google Ads judges landing page experience by how relevant and useful the page is to people who clicked your ad; matching the headline to the ad is the cheapest way to get there.
The button and the prefilled message
WhatsApp's click to chat link opens a chat with your number and a ready message: wa.me/9715XXXXXXXX?text= followed by URL-encoded text. Write that message for the customer:
- Name the offer: "Hi, I'd like the October laser offer". Your team knows what to answer without asking.
- Add a short source code: "(ref M-OCT)" for the Meta ad, "(ref G-LSR)" for Google. It's how you tell which ad produced the chat; the method is in our guide to tracking WhatsApp leads to the CRM.
- Keep it editable and short. One line. The customer can add their question.
- Match the page language. The Arabic page gets an Arabic message; the Russian page a Russian one.
Repeat the button after the price block and after the reviews, and keep a sticky WhatsApp button at the bottom of the screen on mobile.

Form or WhatsApp?
| Situation | Better choice | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Consumer services: beauty, clinics, fitness, restaurants, rentals | WhatsApp first | Instant, personal, people answer |
| Quotes that need details: renovation, events, B2B | Form, then WhatsApp | You need the size, date, budget up front |
| Customers who can't be reached in working hours | WhatsApp with an auto-reply or bot | The chat waits; a callback list doesn't |
| Real estate and high-value leads with many tyre-kickers | Short form with 2 qualifying questions, then WhatsApp | Filters before the salesperson spends time |
Our view, not a rule. Many good pages offer both: WhatsApp as the main button, a three-field form below it for people who prefer not to chat.
What else belongs on the page
- Real photos of the place, team and result. Stock photos make the price look less believable.
- Three to five reviews with names, taken from Google, linked to the profile.
- What's included and what's not. Fewer "how much exactly?" chats, faster yes.
- A short FAQ: parking, payment methods, languages spoken, cancellation.
- Map and opening hours, and for Ramadan or holidays, the changed hours.
- Consent line under any form, and a separate unticked box for marketing; see our PDPL guide for websites.
Leave out the full menu of services, the company history and the newsletter pop-up. The page has one job.
Speed
Ad traffic is mostly mobile. Google's target is the main content within 2.5 seconds. A hero video and a heavy page builder are the usual reasons a landing page misses it; our Core Web Vitals guide has the fix list.
The numbers to watch weekly
| Number | Formula | Tells you |
|---|---|---|
| Click-to-chat rate | WhatsApp clicks ÷ page visits | Whether the page persuades |
| Chat start rate | Chats received ÷ WhatsApp clicks | Whether the button works on all phones and desktop |
| Chat-to-customer rate | Customers ÷ chats | Whether the offer and the replies close |
| Cost per customer | Ad spend ÷ customers | Whether the whole chain pays |
If clicks are high and chats are low, test the button on an iPhone, an Android and a desktop without WhatsApp installed. Desktop visitors land on WhatsApp Web, which some never log into; offer a phone number or form beside it.
What nobody tells you
The reply time is part of the landing page. A page that gets someone to write at 22:00 and a team that answers at 10:00 wastes the click. Set an auto-reply at least, or an AI assistant that answers and books.
One page per offer beats one page for everything. An ad for laser hair removal should land on laser hair removal, not on the clinic's home page with 30 services.
Vladimir Chernyshev, GM: most landing pages fail on the first screen, not the design. Put the price, the place and the WhatsApp button where the thumb lands, and remove everything that doesn't help someone decide to write. What a landing page costs to build is in our landing page prices guide.
